Chemtura is a leading supplier of Rubber and Specialty
Chemicals to the world market, with Geismar being the largest manufacturing center.
Flexzone® is an antiozonant used to protect rubber products from deterioration
due to exposure to ozone, heat build-up during processing, and as a stabilizer in the
manufacture of other synthetic polymers. The thiazole family of accelerators is used in
virtually all rubber products to optimize the curing process. Celogen® Ot and
Celogen ®AZ are nitrogen-based chemical foaming agents. They are used to make
foamed rubber and plastic products ranging from soft, flexible materials such as life
jacket foams and coated fabrics, to tough vinyl flooring and rigid drain pipe. Chemtura is
the largest supplier of chemical foaming agents in North America. BHT is an effective and
economical antioxidant and process stabilizer used widely in the plastics, petroleum and
food industries. Naugard® polymerization inhibitors are processing aids used
to prevent unwanted polymer build-up during the manufacture of monomer such as styrene.
Polymers:
Royalene® EPDM is a high performance specialty
rubber that offers exceptional properties. Its excellent chemical resistance, resilience,
heat aging, and low temperature serviceability make it the ideal polymer for a wide range
of automotive applications including: weather seal, belting, hoses, wire insulation and a
host of other applications. Royalene®has the inherent capability to withstand
harsh weather and temperature extremes. These properties make it an outstanding choice for
use in single-ply roof membranes, expansion joints and architectural weather seals.
Chemtura RoyalEdge™ EPDM represents a new generation of Royalene®
elastomers which combine proprietary catalyst development with process modifications to
make tailor-made products that provide outstanding processing, superior physical
properties and improved visual surface appearance. Trilene® is a new and
exciting generation of thermal and shear stable, weather resistant, viscous liquid
polymers. Trilene is used as a superior process aid for molded and extruded parts,
automotive sealants, construction sealants and electrical encapsulation, and for
modification of gear lubrication products.
Crop Protection Chemicals:
Maleic Hydrazide is produced in pure technical form and
formulated into Royal MH-30® and Royal Slo-Gro® plant growth
regulants at the Gastonia, North Carolina Plant. These finished products prevent the
growth of suckers on tobacco plants and prevent the sprouting in potatoes and onions.
B-Nine® is produced and formulated at the Geismar Plant. Potted ornamental
flowers treated with B-Nine® are compact, dense and uniform, with lush, dark
leaves that make their healthy, long-lasting blooms really stand out.
